Systems & Compliance Advisory
ISO 45001 support for high-risk Australian operations
Work Safety Hub helps Australian organisations design, implement and review WHS management systems around their operations, significant risks and applicable requirements. An engagement can include system development, ISO 45001 gap assessment, implementation support or a separately scoped assurance review.
For high-risk work, start with the activities and decisions the system needs to support. Agree which sites, shifts, contractor interfaces and critical controls are in scope, then test how responsibilities, consultation, procedures and escalation arrangements work in practice. A document set or dashboard alone does not demonstrate that controls are effective.
What should you agree before engaging a systems adviser?
Define the objective, applicable jurisdictions, assessment criteria, evidence sample and deliverables. Confirm who will do the work, their relevant experience, any conflicts of interest and how findings will be reported. If the provider helped design or implement the system, agree how that involvement will be disclosed and how the review will address independence; do not assume a review of the provider’s own work provides independent assurance.
Deliverables may include a system design or gap report, prioritised implementation actions, responsibilities and an agreed follow-up plan. Specify which outputs are included, how workers and relevant representatives will contribute, and how implementation and selected controls will be verified.
Advisory support and certification are different services
Work Safety Hub provides advisory, gap-assessment and readiness support. We do not conduct certification audits or issue ISO 45001 certificates. Certification decisions remain with an independent certification body. System development, a gap assessment or certification does not guarantee legal compliance or establish that every activity is safe. Your organisation retains its WHS duties and authority over operational decisions.
For a separately scoped review, explore our independent WHS audit and assurance service and audit buyer guide.
For context, see ISO’s ISO 45001 overview, ISO’s explanation of certification and WorkSafe Victoria’s management-system guidance. Check the requirements applying to your jurisdiction and engagement. These sources do not endorse a provider.

Learn More ISO 45001 gap assessment and reviewReview sampled system evidence against agreed ISO 45001 criteria, identify gaps and prioritise improvement. This is advisory or assurance work within its agreed scope, not a certification audit.
Learn More Regulatory readiness reviews and inspectionsExamine selected requirements, activities and controls against agreed criteria. Receive findings linked to the evidence reviewed, with scope and limitations stated.
Learn More Certification preparation supportPrepare for an independent certification process through gap analysis, implementation advice and readiness support. The certification body conducts its own audit and makes the certification decision.
