Based in the Hunter Valley NSW, Hyva Australia are a company that offer complete in-house specification and hydraulic installations. In 2013 Hyva engaged Work Safety Hub to help take their safety management system to the next level and in just a few short months their workshop has been transformed.
Employees were tackling issues with customers walking into the workshop and housekeeping was in dire need of improvement, Robert Pan the newly appointed Workshop Safety Representative told Work Safety Hub safety consultants, ‘there was a lot of wasted time finding things in the workshop, now everything has a home and it saves a lot time’. Hyva’s Operations Manager, Andrew Dawes said ‘the team has worked very hard to implement the new Safety Management System, all credit must be given to them, their attitude towards the changes has been excellent and they have really seen them as a way of improving the business and their personal safety while at work.’ The team now conduct fortnightly site inspections and toolbox talks, housekeeping has improved 100% and employees are proud to talk about the big improvements they’ve achieved in such a short period of time, with Rob stating ‘with the high visibility clothing it looks good and makes the workshop more professional, the safety management system was lacking before, now it’s easier and safer to do our job’.
