The reputation of Australia’s trucking industry for being one of the country’s most dangerous sectors has once again reinforced in a survey conducted, with hundreds of employers participating and admitting to more often than not breaking workplace safety rules to have jobs completed on time and admit to having workplace injuries considered as typical day-to-day risks at work.

According to a recent report, although occupational safety and health is rarely making headlines nowadays, it is not right to assume that manufacturing has become a safe occupation.

Safe Work Australia issued the revised draft code for Work Health and Safety Code Practice for Construction Work last 30 August 2013. The new Code incorporates templates for SWMS, case studies and Health and Safety Management Plans to enlighten those employees in the construction industry, in carrying out their duties.

Just recently, the Notifiable Fatalities Monthly report for the month of February 2013 was released by Safe Work Australia. The report provided a national summary of work-related deaths notifiable to Australian work health and safety jurisdictions through an estimate of the number of work-related fatalities. The said report showed 16 work-related notifiable fatalities within the month.
